An industry thought-leader with over 30 years of international satellite and telecom experience, within various engineering and management positions at Ericsson (in Canada, England and Sweden), Mats Andersson brings extensive expertise from the industry. Additionally, he holds three university degrees (Lic. Eng., M. Sc. and B.A.).
Michel Castaldelli, Head of Connectivity Partnerships, is responsible for global business development activities with telecommunications service providers, vendors, and systems integrators for Facebook Connectivity Initiatives. Michel has over twenty years’ experience driving innovation with the world’s largest telecom companies as well as working with startups and launching his own ventures. He joined Facebook in 2019 and worked at Ericsson, Telecom Italia Mobile, and KPMG Consulting prior to that.

With 25 years of Telecom experience, Leticia Latino went from working for Merrill Lynch and Telecom Giant Nortel Networks to accepting the challenge of extending the legacy of establishing her family business in the US back in 2002. Neptuno Group was originally founded by her father in 1972 in South America where they helped deploy some of the first Cellular Networks in the region and where they have built over 10,000 Towers. Her presentation will focus on Smart Cities and the telecommunication infrastructure they build on.

Gregor Hembrough leads Polestar Automotive USA. He has a wealth of automotive expertise built over more than 25 years, mainly at Volvo Cars North America. And Greg lived in Sweden for an extended period. Gregor has positioned Polestar as a strong premium electric car brand in one of the world’s most demanding markets. His previous experience includes two positions as the Vice President of major regions for Volvo. Polestar is a Swedish automotive brand established in 1996 by Volvo Cars' partner Flash/Polestar Racing and acquired in 2015 by Volvo. Polestar produce high-end electric performance cars under its own name. Polestar also functions as an innovation lab for Volvo Cars, developing designs and technologies of a more experimental nature.
Catherine O’Brien works in the Salt River Project (SRP) Sustainability Policy & Programs group where she is leading SRP’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Strategy. In this role, she is responsible for coordinating and collaborating with various internal stakeholders on developing strategies and initiatives to help identify opportunities towards increasing EV adoption, and meeting SRP’s 2035 EV goal of supporting the enablement of 500,000 EVs in SRP’s service territory while managing 90% of the EV charging load.
Dr. Morteza Farajian was appointed as executive director of the Build America Bureau at USDOT (the Bureau) in 2019. He is responsible for credit programs and loan guarantees to support development of large-scale and multimodal transportation infrastructure. The Bureau also promotes innovative project financing solutions and helps state and local governments develop and finance P3 transactions for transportation facilities.

His career spans twenty years in the financial services and mining industries. His presentation will focus on how Freeport McMoRan uses drones and autonomous trains to make mining safer.

Eric Asmussen is Director of Growth and focus on large clients & concepts as well as the b2b strategy and way forward for Cake exploring new market opportunities on a global scale. He focus on the customer and user acquisition as well as activation, retention, and upsell. Cake being a fast-growing scale-up EV company / tech company confirms that by employing Eric as their Director of Growth they have already seen amazing results across all parts of the user journey and at all levels of the funnel as well as a huge increase in conversion and sales.

The Swedish work model is a great culture fit for young professionals in the U.S, and around the world. Dr. Robert Strand is the Executive Director of the Center for Responsible Business and member of the faculty at the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business. He will become the inaugural Director of the Nordic Center at UC Berkeley upon the new center’s launch during the 2021-22 academic year. Dr. Strand also holds the title of Associate Professor with the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark. His research and teaching compares U.S. and Nordic approaches to sustainable and socially responsible business and, more recently, he has broadened attention to compare and contrast American and Nordic capitalism. He will soon complete the book project Sustainable Vikings: What the Nordics Can Teach Us about Reimagining American Capitalism.
Dr Björsne is leading AZ BioVentureHub since 2014. It is a novel approach to open innovation which allows smaller Biotechs and academic groups to work in close proximity to the skills and capabilities that resides within big pharma.
